Analysis of Peer-Reviewed Literature
VACS data are featured in 37 peer-reviewed articles published between 2009 and July 2019. This represents an important contribution to a relatively under-studied area. The 37 studies in this review use data from 12 VACS, including: Cambodia, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Lao PDR, Malawi, Nigeria, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These countries span four geographic regions including; Latin America, the Caribbean, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. In addition to geographic diversity, the studies span several substantive areas including; gender, type of violence, risk factors for childhood violence, and the impact of violence on health outcomes and behaviors. The full analysis is forthcoming. For the complete repository of VACS-related literature, please visit the Together for Girls Resource Bank.
